Q: Who is funding the Hyatt Care Fund?
A: The Hyatt Care Fund is launching with initial contributions from the Hyatt Hotels Foundation, salary reductions of our Senior Leadership Team and Chairman of the Board and Board of Directors, donations from Pritzker family foundations and donations from some Hyatt hotel owners.
Q: What is the Hyatt Care Fund?
A: The Hyatt Care Fund is an effort designed to support our colleagues with the most pressing financial need. It is a coordinated effort through the Hyatt Hotels Foundation, Hyatt Care Fund, LLC, and E4E Relief to support colleagues in different countries around the world while complying with local employment, tax, and other applicable laws. While our efforts right now are focused on supporting colleagues most in need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hyatt Care Fund will allow us to quickly care for colleagues affected by natural disasters and other hardships in the future.
Q: Do contributions to Hyatt Care Fund, LLC, the Hyatt Hotels Foundation, or E4E Relief benefit different colleagues?
A: Global colleagues across Hyatt’s owned, managed, and franchised properties and corporate offices will be eligible to apply for relief via the Hyatt Care Fund. Given the global complexities and differences in the applicable laws in the various jurisdictions where Hyatt hotels and offices operate, colleagues in different countries may apply through different portals – but the goal is the same – supporting our colleagues with the most pressing financial needs. While most colleagues in the U.S. can apply for relief from the Hyatt Hotels Foundation and most colleagues outside the U.S. can apply for relief from E4E Relief, contributions to each of them benefit our colleagues and support our Hyatt Care Fund effort. Contributions to any of them allows us to balance our support for colleagues in different regions around the world.
Q: Is my contribution to the Hyatt Care Fund tax-deductible?
A: Donations made to the Hyatt Care Fund LLC and Hyatt Hotels Foundation are contributions to an organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code which is classified as a private foundation within the meaning of section 509(a). Contributions to E4E Relief are contributions to a public charity organized under section 501(c)(3). Donor contributions may be deductible for U.S. taxpayers, but we recommend you seek the advice of a tax advisor if you are uncertain of the tax treatment.
Q: How do I apply for relief from the Hyatt Care Fund?
A: Hyatt colleagues will be asked to complete a two-step application outlining their needs. The first step of the application process is available through hyattconnect.
